Instead of taming a horse the traditional way, one inventiveThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayer has discovered a genius method for catching wild horses. Players ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomcan now use this method to virtually guarantee a new mount each time they need a trusty horse to explore Hyrule.

Taming and catching horses inTears of the Kingdomis similar to how it was in the game’s predecessor, TheLegend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Traditionally, players will need to crouch down and move cautiously toward a wild horse, being careful not to make too much noise and scare it away. Once close enough, players then must hop on the horse and hold on tight, hoping that Link’s stamina wheel stays filled. Otherwise, the horse will get away. Players can use special stealth-boosting food, armor, or elixirs to help them stay silent and make the process oftaming horses inTears of the Kingdoma bit easier.

Reddit user SpinkoJ discovered a way to save both time and precious resources using one of the new abilities in the game: Ultrahand. With this new ability, Link can pick up and fuse multiple items together to build useful creations like vehicles and contraptions, such as oneTears of the Kingdomplayer’s armored mech. In the case of this video, SpinkoJ used this new ability to create a makeshift horse corral. Dropping this corral around the horse forces it to stay put. This ensures an almost guaranteed victory when it comes to taming it.

Using this method may seem like a guaranteed win at first, but Link’s stamina wheel needs to be taken into consideration. The horse you’re trying to tame may have nowhere to go, but if Link doesn’t have enough stamina, he’ll be bucked off, and there’s nothing else that can be done. To get around this, players can cook special food and elixirs to grant extra stamina oradd more stamina permanently inTears of the Kingdom.

Although it’s not shown in the video, it’s likely that this genius method can also be used when trying to tame deer and bears in the game. More experimental players can even use this method to trap tricky enemies and take them out from a distance. The usefulness of this simple contraption seems almost limitless. With this amount of creative potential, it’s no wonder why evenXbox congratulated Nintendo onZelda’s success. A game with this many practical possibilities may take a decade just to discover them all.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis available now for the Nintendo Switch.
