In a livestream from Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, sources reportedly confirmed that severalZelda-related announcements were planned for the Nintendo Direct. The biggest announcement will be the unveiling ofThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2’s actual name, just like howThe Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Maskhas its own name even though it’s a follow-up toThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

It may seem odd that theBreath of the Wildsequel has yet to have its name confirmed yet, though it would make sense if Nintendo’s simply holding it back to capitalize on the success of theBreath of the Wildbranding. That may or may not be contributory, but one reason Nintendo has said thenewZeldagame’s titleis being held back is that it contains plot hints. One rumored title of particular note isThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of Duality, which has led to significant speculation among the fan base.

A name for theBreath of the Wildsequel isn’t the onlyZeldanews reported to be planned for the upcoming Nintendo Direct. To be clear, while Grubb’s reporting is reliable on this subject, it’s also not a certainty. A Nintendo Direct has not been officially announced yet, let alone one withZeldaannouncements. Grubb has also been reporting that this Nintendo Direct has been coming since January 2022. This will be the first full Nintendo Direct since then.
