The prevailing opinion onCyberpunk 2077at launch was that of a game crushed under the weight of its own expectations, failing to deliver on the hype that followed CD Projekt Red’s dystopian shooter ever since its announcement in 2012. While the features present in the game were terrific on their own, and the story lived up to the high standards established in theWitcherfranchise, the sum of its parts gave players the impression thatCyberpunk 2077could have used more development timebefore it released to the world.
This did little to deterCyberpunk 2077from finding its audience and fans who still enjoyed the game for what it was, and hoped that its shortcomings would get ironed out through post-launch support in the form of comprehensive patches and content updates. Though the patches came and went, and brought with them some much-needed fixes, the players still yearned for something more – a miracle patch that would bringCyberpunk 2077closer to its hopes and promises. Patch 1.5 seems to be just that.

For those who have prudently abstained from playingCyberpunk 2077at launch, and have patiently waited for CD Projekt Red to polish up the game, this week’s Publisher Sale on Xbox might prove to be the perfect opportunity to grab the title at a nice discount. The sale lasts until February 28, and does not require an Xbox Live Gold membership, offeringCyberpunk 2077for $30 at a 50% discount for Xbox One, as well as Xbox Series X/S.
Cyberpunk 2077also has a five-hour trial to help players decide if they want to buy the full game, after which their progress in Night City will carry over to their purchased product. An important thing to note – and one that has leftXbox Series S fans unhappy withCyberpunk 2077– is that the next-gen upgrade does not allow them to play at 60 fps, locking them instead at a 30 fps maximum.
With the 1.5 patch, CD Projekt RED has implemented roleplaying features and improvements toCyberpunk 2077’ssandbox experience, such as allowing the players to own different apartments in Night City or to refurnish their original one, as well as providing them with an opportunity to modify their character’s appearance at home. In addition to this, the game has completely remade its driving model, and made significant improvement to its combat AI, as well as the AI of gangs, citizens, and all sorts of NPCs in Night City.
Needless to say, Xbox players who have been on the fence regardingCyberpunk 2077could use this opportunity to try the game out, as the patch has made it play that much closer to how it was originally envisioned.
Cyberpunk 2077is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
