Blizzard has revealed that the next major content update forWorld of Warcraftwill be coming on May 2. Patch 10.1, Embers of Neltharion, has been on theWorld of Warcraftpublic test realm (PTR) for some time. But, the new update will reach live servers next month, and Blizzard gave a quick rundown of what players can expect soon.A few days ago,World of Warcraft’sTrading Post was updated for April, with new tasks for players to complete for some new cosmetic rewards. From the Blades of Elune to the Magenta Cloud Serpent mount, players can spend their Trader’s Tenders as they see fit. Between the ongoing Turbulent Timeways event and the start of the Easter-like Noblegarden holiday next week,World of Warcraftplayers will have plenty to do to pass the time until the arrival of Embers of Neltharion. European servers will see the update a day later, on May 3, following the weekly maintenance period. The patch’s release schedule will be split up across a span of two weeks. Starting May 2, players will be able to explore the Zaralek Cavern system located underneath the Dragon Isles and defend against assaults from Fyrakk, the fiery Primal Incarnate. Further, players can gain the trust of the mole-like Loamm Niffen faction for rewards, and can finally form cross-faction guilds.
The following week, starting May 9, will mark the beginning ofDragonflightSeason 2. The newraid called Abberus, the Shadowed Cruciblewill be unlocked for players to take on. In addition, the new PvP and Mythic dungeon seasons will begin, which will bring a new rotation of dungeons and affixes for players to overcome. In addition, a gear upgrade system will replace the current structure in place forDragonflight, and new class tier sets will be available for players to earn, once the update goes live in early May. However, that is not to say that testing on theWorld of WarcraftPTR has gone without incident.
With theaddition of challenging Mythic dungeon affixes,World of Warcraftplayers have made their frustrations known. Though Blizzard has shown to be more receptive to feedback compared to expansions past, only time will tell if it will change its mind about some of the content planned for Patch 10.1.
