The upcoming Mythic Season 2 forDragonflighthasWorld of Warcraftplayers concerned, as the datamined dungeon timers leave little room for error in the highly competitive Mythic Keystones. Whileraids and raid bosses inWorld of Warcrafthave always played a pivotal role in defining its endgame, Mythic Plus dungeons have become a constant companion since their introduction inLegion. Conceived out of Challenge Mode fromMists of Pandaria, and inspired byDiablo 3’s Greater Rifts, Mythic Keystones transform regular dungeons into a thrilling gauntlet set against a timer specific to each instance.

The inaugural season ofDragonflightfocused on one half of the expansion’s dungeons, while Season 2 aims to shine a spotlight on Uldaman, Halls of Infusion, Neltharus, and Brackenhide Hollow. Moreover, it will feature the return of Freehold, The Underrot, Neltharion’s Lair, and The Vortex Pinnacle. With Embers of Neltharion having made its way to the Public Test Realms,World of Warcraftfans have begun to dissect the upcoming content with both excited glee and thorough theorycrafting.

A major point of concern in theWorld of Warcraftcommunity has been regarding the dungeon timers ofDragonflightSeason 2. Many fans believe thatDragonflightdungeons such as Halls of InfusionorCataclysm’s The Vortex Pinnacle are ill-equipped to handle the Mythic Keystone format in their current state, with wipes causing the players to start over at the beginning of the dungeon. Furthermore, The Vortex Pinnacle has the shortest timer to complete inDragonflightMythic Season 2, which makes it feel especially punishing to spend six minutes alone in walking from the start of the instance to the end, implying that a wipe on Asaad would effectively brick a key.

The discussion was shared by Foobis25 on the official subreddit forWorld of Warcraft, with many players taking the opportunity to voice their worry on how the next Mythic Season might play out. Given thatDragonflightSeason 2 is removing seasonal affixesaltogether, few outside the development team can reasonably predict the ripple effect this decision will bring to high-end Mythic Keystones. The time to complete each Season 2 dungeon is:

Judging by the reception thus far, it would seem that most players are fed up with long Mythic dungeons such as Uldaman, and would prefer a duration of 25 to 35 minutes to be the norm, with plenty of travel conveniences implemented within the instance to cut down on backtracking after a wipe. Ultimately, withDragonflight’s Embers of Neltharion updatepresumably launching in late May, the community and the developers at Blizzard have plenty of time to test the timers, as well as the dungeons themselves, on the PTR.
