The latest content addition revealedthe end of the War Campaignand marked a major milestone for the expansion. The next big content release will hopefully bring fewer tears and more cries of joy with the unlocking of two additional Allied Races.
The Horde is about to gain access to the adorable fox-like Vulpera when the next majorWorld of Warcraftpatch arrives, but the Alliance also get a new Allied Race.World of WarcraftAllied Racesare basically brand new races that are locked behind some kind of rep grind and chain quest. Most Allied Races are just a new coat of paint on an existing race and a new set of racial abilities.

With Mechagnomes officially announced as a playable race in the near future, it’s time for Alliance players to started planning their next alt (or race change). Before the Allied Race is even unlocked, there are a few things to consider and some frequently asked questions to answer. There are a lot of questions to answer when it comes to which classes will be available, when the Allied Race releases, and how players can make sure they have the race unlocked on day one. Let’s get right into it…
How Do Players Unlock The Mechagnomes Allied Race
First, WoW players need to reach Exalted with the Rustbolt Resistance. This can be achieved by completing quests in Battle For Azeroth and shouldn’t be too difficult for players who have quested through all the main areas and been on theWorld Quest grindfor the last year.
Next, players will also need to earn the achievement The Mechagonian Threat. To earn this achievement, players need to complete all the of the following story lines on Mechagon Island:
“The Legend of Mechagon,” “A Quick Ear Hustle,” “This is Our Vault Now,” “Let’s Get It Started,” “You Must be This Height,” “Machinations for Mechagon,” “Only the Best Will Do,” “To Mechagon!,” “Prospectus Bay,” “We Come in Peace…and Profit,” “The Resistance Needs YOU!,” “Rescuing the Resistance,” “My Father’s Armies,” “We Can Fix It,” “Drill Rig Construction,” “Send My Father a Message,” “Welcome to the Resistance,” “Operation: Mechagon – The Mechorginator.”
When Can Players Create a Mechagnome?
When the next content update goes live, players who’ve completed the requirements will gain access to a quest chain to recruit the Mechagnomes as an Allied Race. Once you complete the chain, you’ll receive the achievement Allied Races: Mechagnomes and can create a new Mechagnomes on the character selection screen. You’ll also unlock a new mount—Mechagon Mechanostrider —for your collection at character creation.
What Classes Can Mechagnomes Play As?
Hunter, Mage, Monk, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior
Similar to the Vulpera options, this is a pretty great range when it comes tofun playable classes, so Mechagnome fans sort of have their pick. There are good options for DPS, healing, and tanking; and it seems very likely that we’ll be seeing some more comically small Warriors running around.
What Are The Mechagnomes Racial Abilities?
Re-Arm: Automatically heal yourself when your health drops to a low life total.
Combat Analysis: Get stronger as you fight the same enemy.
Hyper Organic Light Originator: Summon decoys of yourself to distract foes.
Skeleton Pinkie: Open locked chests.
Mastercraft: Function as a personal set of crafting tools for professions.
Racial abilities, effects, and icons are subject to change.
How to Earn The Mechagnomes Heritage Armor Set
Leveling your new mechagnome from 20 to 120 will earn a cosmetic Heritage Armor set that is unique to this new Allied Race. This is going to be a very popular way to burn some extra hours when the Allied Race releases, so that players can earn the awesome armor set.
Mechagnomes were a huge hit as NPCs whenBattle for Azerothreleased and despite all the debate surrounding the choices made in the expansion, one thing nearly all players agreed on was the coolness level of this race. It’s very exciting to see them being added as an Allied Race and it seems very likely that they’ll immediately become a popular choice for Alliance alts. We look forward to heading into LFR and Dungeon Finder shortly after the next content update and seeing what percentage of every group has been replaced by a pack of crafty Mechagnomes that make the original Gnome racial abilities look weak in comparison.
