While the reappearance of Kingpin inHawkeyehad MCU fans quite excited about the possibilities of the villain returning for good, it appears that the character might not be in the long-term plans of Kevin Feige and others. However, should Marvel Studios decide that Kingpin needs to come back yet again, the actor who played him inHawkeyeandDaredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio, would be willing to step into the role again.
Thecharacter of Kingpinhas long been one of the major baddies in the Marvel Comics universe for decades, and it appeared that he was getting ready to take on the mantle of the Kingpin of Crime in the MCU. First appearing in the Netflix originalDaredevilseries, D’Onofrio’s character hadn’t been mentioned or seen since that show was canceled.

Then rumors began thatDaredevilwould get folded back into the MCU and the crime boss reappeared in the season finale ofHawkeye. But it’s still not clear if that was a one-off or a full-fledged return with more appearances to come. In a wide-ranging interview with theSarah O’Connell Show, D’Onofrio divulged that so far, he hasn’t entered into any talks aboutreprising his Kingpin role. The actor who gave the man also known as Wilson Fisk life on both Netflix and Disney Plus does want to make it clear that he’s told Marvel he very much wants to play the part again.
D’Onofrio noted that he’s been through this kind of thing before when it comes to wondering whether he’ll play Kingpin in another MCU project. He added that he’s just beginning to have fun with the character. It does seem as though Daredevil is definitely going to be making another appearance in the MCU after Charlie Cox reprised the “Man Without Fear” inSpider-Man: No Way Home. However, it’s also not clear just how Feige and company are going to use that character either.
Marvel Studios seems to have given itself a way out should it decide thatKingpin’s reappearance inHawkeyewas a one-time thing. At the end of the show’s season finale, it appears that Echo killed the man who she once knew as “Uncle” after finding out he wasn’t really the caring soul she’d always believed he was. On the other hand, D’Onofrio’s “death” was shown off-screen with only the sound of a gunshot and the thud of a body hitting the ground, leaving a possibility that he could return at some point.
