The battle royale fanfare is still in full effect as games likeFortnite, Apex Legends, andPlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundscontinue to dominate the gaming consciousness. The genre is so popular that even stranger properties are getting in on the action, much like publisher World of Darkness is doing with therecently revealedVampire: The Masqueraderattle royale game.

While many World of Darkness fans still attempt to wrap their head around developer Sharkmob’s still untitledVampire Battle Royaleproject, other questions have arisen about the monetization of the game. Those getting over the initial confusion now have confirmation that the game will be free-to-play with no “pay-to-win” mechanics. The main source of monetization will come from optional aesthetic purchases.

This confirmation came from the World of Darkness Official website which posted a FAQ regarding the title which also provided additional information. The game will be played in a third-person perspective and include both PVP and PVE elements, all set in the streets of Prague. The more concerning issue by lore loyalists is how Sharkmob’s Battle Royale fitsinto the narrative of the World of Darkness. The FAQ assures fans that Sharkmob has done its research on the lore and that the story will make sense with regards to the Masquerade.

Unfortunately for theWorld of Darknessbrand, while aVampire: The Masquerade Battle Royalehasn’t been met with hostility, many fans are more concerned about a much bigger title. The long-awaitedVampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2was revealed last year and has since faced numerous hits of bad news. WithBloodlines 2recently losing a narrative designerafter numerous delays, fans are more concerned with the sequel to a beloved RPG than a Battle Royale title.

So with the basic details out of the way, all that is left is seeing the game in action. Fans are still eager to see how Sharkmob’s title will play out, but those hoping forsome basic training in the Battle Royale genrehave time before the expected 2021 launch.
