According to the developer, the new content forVampire Survivorsis starting to release sooner than anticipated due to the game’s “overwhelming success” and support from its players. WhenVampire Survivorsfirst launched, it had 7 playable characters, 22 weapons, 12 power-ups, 23 achievements, and one stage. Now, the new roadmap shows that the new 0.3.1 patch will add new playable characters, newweapons toVampire Survivors, more power-ups, and more. By this point, the game will have reached 70% content completion before the official 1.0 game release. However, no specific timeframe was given for when the new content will be added to the game at the time of writing.

Also, the game will include two newgame mechanics inVampire Survivors. The first one is called Arcanas, which will release in the game at some point in April. It’s stated that the Arcanas mechanic will unlock a whole new level of viable character builds and power creep for the game. The developer also said that instead of adding the Story Mode mentioned in the Early Access notes, another mechanic will be added in its place, but it’s currently undecided which one it will be. However, that doesn’t mean Story Mode is entirely out of the question, just that the developer will be pivoting towards environmental storytelling for the time being.

Along with the new content revealed in the roadmap, Poncle revealed more details about developments forVampire Survivors. The developer is in the process of porting the game to an “industry-standard game engine” with the help of a team of freelancers. According to the developer, the port is going “smoothly,” and the game is fully playable with some polish and content issues. As a result of the port, some promisedfeatures forVampire Survivors’current version, like key remapping, have been pushed back for the time being. The developer stated that it would be more effective to implement the features directly into the new game engine for the game. Poncle is currently aiming to release “the version on the new engine” forVampire Survivorsin the summer.
