Riot Games' competitive shooterValorantwill share a popular gameplay feature seen in several other multiplayer games.Valorant’s gameplayhas been compared toCounter-Strike: Global OffensiveandOverwatch, but these aren’t the only games that Riot seems to be taking ideas from.

A new video ofValorantgameplay posted by the YouTube channel HITSCAN confirmed that the game will have a ping feature. At around 19:04 in the video, the player can be seen pinging the ground next to an enemy. It’s unclear if this is a weapon ping feature, or just a general ping feature, as one viewer has suggested that the name of the gun, Sheriff, seems to appear before the ping. However, this ping system can helpValorantplayers find guns to pick up much more easily.

Valorantis one of several new shooter games that offers a ping system. TheApex Legendsping system is one of fans' favorite parts of its gameplay, as players can quickly tell other players where they’re going and where items are without having to give them all of that information over a voice channel. The popularity of the ping system is also whyFortniteadded it in early 2019.

TheValorantping system and the way it shows players the name of a dropped weapon will also help when players start to buy skins. Riot Game has confirmed thatValorant won’t have loot boxes, but it will have cosmetic items such as weapon skins, which could frustrate players when trying to identify a weapon with a skin on the ground.

Riot has a huge number of things to reveal to fans before releasingValoranton PC in the summer. Moreplayable charactersare expected to be shown, and Riot has teased several progression systems that allow players to unlock new cosmetics. A beta test has been confirmed, but no date has been announced.

There could be many other helpful features like the ping system that fans haven’t seen.Valorantcould potentially have something likeFortnite’s creator codes, or offer suggestions for how players can get better at the game. These are just some of the features offered by other shooter games, but it’s unclear if these are things Riot will add toValorant.

Valorantwill launch sometime during Summer 2020 for the PC.
