As theScott Pilgrim vs The Worldmovie recently hit its 10 year anniversary, both director Edgar Wright andcreator Bryan Lee O’Malley took to Twitter to celebrate with behind-the-scenes images and thankful sentiments to their fans. However, one comment made by O’Malley may have given some hope tofans wanting aScott Pilgrimgame re-release.
Originally produced by Ubisoft and developed by Ubisoft Montreal,Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Gamewas a side-scrolling beat ‘em up released on PS3 and Xbox 360. Unfortunately for fans, the title was delisted on both the PSN and Xbox Live Arcade in 2014, and even Wright and O’Malley wantScott Pilgrimre-released onto digital platforms again.

After responding to celebratory comments on theScott Pilgrimmovies’ 10th anniversary, O’Malley posted a tweet that claims that Ubisoft has reached out to him. This isn’t the first time that Ubisoft has shown interest inbringing back theScott Pilgrimgame,as the company has previously responded to earlier requests to see the title come back. So, with O’Malley confirming that some sort of discussions may be starting between himself and Ubisoft, then the chances that the game is really coming back seem to be fairly positive.
Fans have already begun to flock around the tweet, excitedly looking for more information abouttheScott Pilgrimgame returningto digital platforms, possibly even for Next-Gen consoles. Naturally, O’Malley hasn’t elaborated on the recent connection with Ubisoft, as there is likely a certain amount of negotiating and planning that will be required before any official announcements are made. Regardless, the fans that have been eagerly wanting to see the title get a re-release have already begun speculating on everything from what consoles the game will be coming to, all the way to possible release dates.
Considering the cult following that both theScott Pilgrimcomic and movie have, it’s no surprise that Ubisoft would be willing to renegotiate with O’Malley, and others that have additional claim to the IP, in order to get the game released again. Director Edgar Wright has even mentioned bringingScott Pilgrimback as an anime, with discussions having already begun to bring the popular character back to film. Exactly where any of these discussions will go, either between O’Malley and Ubisoft or Wright and Universal, is still up in the air, but it’s certainly likely that the overwhelming positivity the film just received for the 10 year anniversary can sway the creators to continue working together.
