While fast travelling is a lot ofSkyrimplayers' preferred way of getting around this section of Tamriel, there is also the option to mount a horse, but one fan discovered that their four-legged friend can do more than just gallop across land. With its long and open-world setting,The Elder Scrolls 5certainly has a lot to offer, be it the stretching landscapes, in-depth lore, or the roster of NPCs that make up this chilly world.
It’s hard to imagine that after more than 11 years, people are still interested in Bethesda’s epic fantasy RPG. However, the fact that so manySkyrimfans are still willing to have discussionsabout the game shows how much longevity it truly has. Sure, it’s a little dated now and there are so many glitches that it’s almost part of its charm, but after all these years, it’s interesting that some are still discovering new things aboutTES5.

For example, a recent report from The Gamer points to Reddit user ARXEUS_, who didn’t seem aware that the horses inSkyrimare not just useful on dry land. A clip uploaded to a post shows their character riding on the back of a horse as it wades through water. Nothing unusual so far. However, ARXEUS_ dismounts the animal and then immediately climbs back on. For some reason, this causes the game to get a little confused, with the horse now able to essentially run despite both it and the player being semi-submerged in water. This is obviously another example of the litany of bugs that frequently occur in the game, but it does mean that those who weren’t aware before now have a way of traveling across water quickly.
Important though they are to the game, it was revealed a while back thatSkyrimvery nearly didn’t have horses. This was apparently down to the developer being unable at first to get the riding mechanic to look natural, not to mention there were some performance issues. Fortunately, the equine beasts were put in and have been a vital aspect for many players. It also means that fans like ARXEUS_ get to see some of the weird things that can happen whilst atop a horse.
As beloved asSkyrimis, many are nowhugely looking forward toThe Elder Scrolls 6. Sadly, no one really has any idea when Bethesda will release the next installment in its immensely popular series. With any luck, onceStarfieldcomes out this September, the studio will be able to give at least some update on the whereabouts ofTES6.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimis available now on PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
