One curiousRed Dead Redemption 2player decided to finally find out the answer to a question that has plagued the minds of many gamers: how would Dutch react if Arthur Morgan donated a considerable amount of money to the Camp? Dutch van der Linde is one of the mostimportant characters inRed Dead Redemption 2, acting as the leader of the outlaw gang home to Arthur Morgan, the main protagonist of the game.

DuringRed Dead Redemption 2’s initial chapters, Dutch behaves like a father figure to several important characters and helps them out of many complicated situations.Dutch also offers many nuggets of wisdomto Arthur throughout his numerous lines of dialogue. Starting in Chapter 2, players are able to donate money to the main gang camp, in exchange for a small honor boost and grateful comments from Dutch.

TikTok user amichelo posted a video of Arthur donating $10 Million to the camp, complete with Dutch’s reaction. Naturally, manyRDR2players were curious to know what happens, especially since very few had donated large sums as the rewards for contributing are quite insignificant. It turns out that Dutch’s response to the gesture is very anticlimactic, as he offers Arthur a generic “That’s my boy!”

Dutch’s response was very disappointing, especially seeing howRed Dead Redemption 2has been praised by criticsfor its immersive world and meticulous attention to detail. One of the main plot points of the game is Dutch’s gang’s constant search for wealth in order for all the gang members to move to Tahiti and live an easy and fulfilling life. This is perhaps one of the game’s biggest examples of ludonarrative dissonance, asRDR2’s story and gameplay elements don’t quite fit together as well as they should.

Still, even despite its shortcomings,Red Dead Redemption 2nonetheless succeeds in giving gamers a compelling and immersive experience. The game’s immense open world feels alive and is bustling with many activities such as foraging, fishing, or even bounty hunting. The plot of the game is also noteworthy, featuring well-written characters and a gripping narrative, which many believecould translate well to a TV series.

Even still, Rockstar decided to abandon the release of any additional post-game downloadable content forRed Dead Redemption 2, perhaps to focus on bringing more updates toGrand Theft Auto Online, which is Rockstar’s biggest commercial success.RDR2still has managed to sell over 50 million copiesso far, a massive measurement of impact in the gaming industry.

Red Dead Redemption 2is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
