Summary

A key feature of the base games forPokemon Scarlet and Violetwas the Titan Pokemon that took the form of massive versions of regular mons powered up by Herba Mystica. These Titans comprised the main battles players would be facing along the Path of Legends, one of the three main quest lines inPokemon Scarlet and Violet. While these battles were solid encounters in their own right, The Teal Mask DLC turns Titan battles up a notch and offers players a more robust experience against a variety of unique and challenging mons.

The Teal Mask provides players with a variety of new challenges to undertake, including activities like its main quest, side quests, and mini-games. There is a clear increase in difficulty in this DLC over the base games that even series veterans will want to watch out for, including some surprisingly tough battles against trainers likeKieran and Carmine. However, out of all the battles players will have to tackle in The Teal Mask, the boss battles against the DLC’s new Titan Pokemon feel like some of the toughest, most spectacular in the series to date.

Titans in The Teal Mask Feel More Intimidating than Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Base Game

TheTitan Pokemonin the base games ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetwouldn’t be that remarkable if it weren’t for their Herba Mystica-based powers. Critters like Klawf, Bombirdier, Orthworm, Great Tusk/Iron Treads, and Tatsugiri and Dondozo can all be found as regular spawns within the game, making their Titan variants less exciting than what is offered in The Teal Mask. What makes the Titans that players will face in The Teal Mask, so special is the fact that all but one can only be caught after battling them in their Titan form first while also being much tougher opponents than their base game counterparts.

The first Titan-like battle players will likely face if they are following the main quest of The Teal Mask isMiloticlocated at the top of Oni Mountain at the Crystal Pools. This is the least interesting of the Titan battles in the DLC as Milotic isn’t technically a Titan despite the battle playing out like it is, and while rare, Feebas can be found in those same pools so obtaining a Milotic isn’t a one-shot thing. Carmine will join the player for this battle which can make things somewhat easier since Milotic will often attack her mons instead of the players, giving them time to set up a strategy.

Far more interesting battles are the ones players will have to face during the mask recovery section of the DLC wherein players will need to find and defeat the Loyal Three to recover Ogerpon’s stolen masks. Each of these three will be true Titans when fought during this quest, and while Carmine will again battle alongside the player, these battles can be much tougher thanks to theLoyal Three’s nasty Toxic Chain Abilitythat can leave the player’s mons badly poisoned. These unique encounters are made all the more memorable by the fact that players can return to the same locations later in the DLC to re-challenge and capture the Loyal Three.

One of the toughest and most memorable Titan battles in all ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetcan be found at the end of Perrin’s quest line in The Teal Mask. The finale of this side quest has players facing off against the terrifyingBloodmoon Ursalunawith Titan-level stats and a tough combo of its signature attack Blood Moon and stat-raising move Calm Mind. To make matters worse, players won’t have a partner to battle Bloodmoon Ursaluna with, meaning it’s up to their team alone to defeat and capture this powerful Bloodmoon Beast.
