With itsWarlords of New York expansion,The Division 2developer Massive Entertainment hoped to revitalize the third person looter shooter by making a number of drastic changes. And while the major expansion did a lot to make the experience better, there were still areas whereDivision 2could improve.
Exotics have been a consistent point of discussion withinThe Division2community, and Massive is looking to make some significant changes to help players. In next week’s update,The Division 2players will be able to bring their exotics up to their current level, or completely reconfigure the attributes on an existing exotic.

WhenDivision 2released the Warlords of New York expansion, the game alsobumped up the level cap and gear score. For many players this offered new goals to chase, but it also meant that existing exotics were left in the dust. Title Update 9, however, will make those exotics relevant again.
Once the update goes live on April 21,Division 2players will be able to reconfigure an exotic up to level 40, assuming that their crafting bench has been fully upgraded. The only downside to the reconfigure feature is that it will give the exotic new attributes and stats for level 40. So while it does bring an exotic up to the relevant level for thecurrentDivision 2content, players will lose out on their “god roll” if they choose to upgrade.
In addition to the ability to reconfigure aDivision 2exotic up to the current level cap, the new feature will also allow players to re-roll the stats and attributes on their existing exotics. In exchange for an exotic component (and some other crafting materials), players can put an exotic back into the “slot machine” and hope for a better version of a piece of gear.
Combined withDivision 2’s existing recalibration tool – allowing players to take an attribute from one piece of gear and put it on another – there is a lot more freedom available when it comes to customizing exotics. Ideally, players would just be able toupgrade an exoticand keep their stats, but Massive Entertainment does want to keep its community playing. Making things too simple would have shortened the grind in a game that’s all about farming loot.
Still, these are some welcome changes forThe Division 2and players can start preparing today. Dismantle any exotics that you may not want and claim two exotic components, because after Title Update 9 goes live they will only give one component.
