Summary

Skyrimfans likely still have a long wait untilThe Elder Scrolls 6comes out, so another DLC could be useful in the meantime. The existingSkyrimDLC did a good job of expanding the game, giving players new options and features while also opening up entirely new questlines. While it has been a while since the last DLC release, the game still has more room to expand if the developers choose to do so. For a game that came out two generations ago, it still has more than enough life to last untilThe Elder Scrolls 6.

After the release of thecontent-richSkyrim: Anniversary Edition, many more players have gotten the chance to see the game and all of the DLC that it has to offer.Skyrimwas already a large game at release, and these add-ons have made it one of the longest and most immersive games available. Since release, the expansions toSkyriminclude:

It’s Not Too Late For Skyrim to See Another DLC Release

New Skyrim DLC Would Expand the Options Available to Players

While there are alreadySkyrimDLCs that could influenceThe Elder Scrolls 6, there are still some areas where the game could receive a worthy addition. For example, a new set of weapons and spells could liven up the province of Skyrim, as well as some newly added dungeons to test them out in.

There are still some areas ofSkyrimthat players have not been given a solid reason to explore. By filling out those blank spots on the map and providing rewards for doing so, a newSkyrimDLC could send players on a brand new adventure to the unexplored reaches of the land.

Skyrim DLC Can Wrap Up Stories That Remain Open

One source of fuel for potential DLC is themysteries ofSkyrimthat remain unexplained. For example, the plotline with the Thalmor never got a proper conclusion despite them being one of the most insidious factions in the game, so a final DLC could follow up with a battle against them. There are other things that were never explained or resolved as well, such as where Rune of the Thieves' Guild came from, or who had Brand-Shei targeted by the guild in the first place. While they may not lead to massive quests, DLC would be nice to tie up such remaining loose ends.

The Wait For The Elder Scrolls 6 Could Be Eased by DLC

The last argument in favor of releasing moreSkyrimDLC is time. WithThe Elder Scrolls 6being announced so earlyin its development cycle, there is still likely to be a long wait before its release. Putting out a new DLC release forSkyrimwould go a long way toward keeping players engaged with the series as they wait for the latest installment to come out. It’s not a perfect idea, but new content is a tried and true way to extend a game’s lifespan, even ifSkyrimin particular doesn’t need the help. At the very least, it would be an appreciated gesture.

Skyrim’s DLC has been nothing but a positive for a game that was already quite long to begin with. WhileThe Elder Scrolls 6has ambitious goals, those won’t have a chance to come to fruition until the game actually comes out. In the meantime, Bethesda needs to keep fans from losing interest in the series. New DLC forSkyrimcould accomplish multiple goals, from giving players new storylines to discover to simply keeping them invested in the game during the wait.Skyrimmay be getting old, but it still has potential for quality DLC.
