Following the excitement of yesterday’s The Future of Gaming broadcast from Sony, fans are already thrilled to see what other major titles will be hitting thePlayStation 5 and Xbox Series Xwhen they debut later this year. One of the major publishers who will be highlighting their lineup of titles going forward is none other than EA, with fans assuming that the huge video game icon will deliver some impressive new reveals.
It seems one of these new announcements might just have hit the internet early thanks to a listing on the Microsoft store, with a header image for a game titledStar Wars: Squadronslanding on the digital marketplace. The image was soon spread online, with many assuming that this brand new game is actually the heavily-rumoredStar Wars: Maverickwhich leaked on PSN all the way back in March.

The image itself shows two pilots standing back to back. One clearly aligns with the Rebels, wearing the iconic X-Wing pilot uniform featured in the originalStar Warsfilms, while the other is sporting the sleek, black stormtrooper armor associated with Tie-Fighter pilots. It seems fairly evident the game will allow players to hop into a number of iconicStar Warsvehicles, with X-Wings, Tie-fighters, and Interceptors all featuring heavily in the promotional image. Alongside that is theStar Wars: Squadronstitle, with the tagline “pilots wanted” featuring below. As it stands, it seems as though the discovery all but confirms that the ship-basedStar Warstitle will be announced very soon, with many assuming that fans will see it atEA’s June 18 conference.
As for what players can expect from the newStar Warstitle, it seems rumors claim that the game will have a single-player campaign, however, it will seemingly focus more ongiant multiplayer space warfare. With many holding the original ship-basedStar Warsgames in very high regard, it’s clear the title will have a fairly significant audience, especially when considering that the franchise has some of the most iconic space battles of any franchise to date.
