CI Games is unveiling its latestSniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2gameplay trailer. The game’s second gameplay trailer, titled “Welcome to Kuamar,” showcasesSniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2’s impressive (and impressively gory) bullet physics, plot details, and more.

Theinitial announcement ofSniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2was a bit of a surprise, coming only seven months after the release of the first game. On top of that, the game was set to have a very quick turnaround from reveal to launch, announced June 2020 for a release that fall. However, CI Games pushedSniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2back to June 2021 to further polish the game and expand the title’s availability to next-gen consoles. The visual fidelity showcased in the latest gameplay trailer shows that the decision to delay the release may have been the right move.

Whilethe previousSniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2gameplay trailerfocused mostly on a cinematic sizzle reel, this new one offers gamers actual details regardingSniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2’s plot. As players will see and hear, the game takes place in the fictional middle-eastern country of Kuamar. The country has apparently been under a brutal dictatorship over the past 20 years. While protagonist Raven’s mysterious employer has refrained from getting involved, intel of a Kuamar offensive towards a neighboring country could spell a “catastrophic” war in the region. Interspersed with plenty of headshots and kills, the employer goes on to state the bottom line of Raven’s mission is to stop the ensuing conflict, “by whatever means necessary.”

While its still too early to tell,Contracts 2looks to be a significant improvement upon thepoorly-reviewedSniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts. Fans and critics alike felt as if the game seemed a bit rushed, as technical issues and bugs were a major problem, in addition to level design flaws. The pair of trailers forSniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2makes the game look like it is in a better place, but of course looks can be deceiving. The good thing is the additional delays should have allowed CI Games adequate time to polish up the experience as best as possible.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2launches on June 4 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
