A Reddit user named CaptCorvo73 has shared a clip of a new crossbow mechanic they discovered inThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. The video features the player fighting a Sabre Cat, and they manage to hit the enemy with the first bolt from the crossbow. As Sabre Cat charges toward the user, CaptCorvo73 lands a finishing melee attack on the enemy, depleting all of its health with this move. CaptCorvo73 claims to have reachedlevel 38 inSkyrimwithout ever seeing this attack before, as they just found out that it’s possible to initiate melee finishers with crossbows.
A few users in the comments section have shared further details on how to execute this move inThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. They state that players need to aim the crossbow as if they are about to fire, cancel the shot, and instantly utilize the power bash move to deal a ton of damage to the opponent. One fan claims that they would use a crossbow as both a melee and ranged weapon while playingSkyrimwith a stealth archer build.
One gamer also asks about the armor CaptCorvo73 is wearing, while another player wonders about the black smoke emanating from the character. According to CaptCorvo73, this black smoke is poison being emitted from the armor, and it looks to be one of the special bonuses provided by theEbony Mail piece of equipment inSkyrim.
Users otherwise seem impressed by the number of mechanics hidden in the world ofSkyrim, and how gamers are still making these discoveries. It’ll be interesting to see ifThe Elder Scrolls 6is able to replicate this longevity, although it does seem like this game is still years away from release.
