Adding more to the fun experiences a player can have inThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, a fan of the action RPG has recently created a mod that allows the Dragonborn to be a legitimate Jarl in the game. Being one of the highest seats of power inSkyrim, Jarls command bigcities and strongholds across Tamriel. Therefore, it is not surprising for a player to covet the powerful position, even if it means having all the responsibilities of running a city.
Though the Dragonborn is able to become a member of secret societies like the Thieves Guild or curry favor with a city’s authorities to become one of its Thanes, there is no way for players to officially ascend to the powerfulJarl position inSkyrim. Characters key to each city’s questline are placed on these seats, making them hard to replace or get rid of. However, this does not seem to stop the playfulSkyrimcommunity from creating a mod that will finally allow them to become a Jarl, even though they have to deal with all the administrative responsibility.

On Nexus Mods, user Kp40az recently uploaded the “Jarl of Solitude” mod that they have created. According to the description, the mod allows the Dragonborn to replace thecurrent Jarl of Solitude Elisifand adds an economic tabletop mini-game where players can manage the city that is now under their command. Activating the mod will automatically transport the player into the Jarl’s office where they can interact with several things such as a book to adjust taxes, several tiles to build new structures, a chest and safe for storage, and more.
Kp40az’s mod also allows players to toggle their faction loyalty towardsSkyrim’s infamous Imperial Legion. Doing so will make all areas in the game that are loyal towards the Stormcloak rebellion be aggressive towards the player, attacking them on sight. So mod users should be careful about where they travel to when they turn this option on. Kp40az also recommends that players start a fresh game when deciding to use this mod or at least complete the game’s civil war quest line just for the whole mod to make sense.
Kp40az’s Jarl of Solitude does add a new depth to the gameplay, especially forThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimveterans. Hopefully the modder will expand the mod more and allow players to become Jarls of the other available cities and strongholds inSkyrimas well.
