Though it’s not an easy game by any stretch of the imagination, the recently-launchedSifuhas already been beaten without any damage taken by the player, as surprising as that might sound. Specifically, a playthrough video has been posted on YouTube, and it clearly shows all the game’s bosses taken down without them getting even a single hit in.
Being a third-person beat ‘em up with a rogue-lite slant,Sifuwas always going to lean towards the more hardcore side of the difficulty spectrum. It can be a punishing experience before things begin to fall into place for a new player, which makes it all the more surprising that it would take just a few days before someone could pull off a proper no-damage run featuring all of the game’s boss encounters.

According to YouTube user Kusemek, who posted their flawless playthrough ofSifu, the game is indeed a challenging experience, and they found the experience very enjoyable overall. Since there areno difficulty options of any kind inSifu, players all need to contend with the same level of challenge, with the slight variations presenting themselves whenever the protagonist ages from one stage to the other. This means that everyone will have the chance to challenge Kusemek’s combat techniques and, perhaps, optimize their record even further.
The aforementioned aging mechanic is tied toSifu’s rendition of death and its narrative progression, which means that Kusemek ended up completing their playthrough when the protagonist was still pretty young, at just 20 years old. Though the YouTube video features just the boss encounters, and skips over the mid-stage mook fights, it’s still plenty obvious that the player didn’t have the chance to spoof fights, as the protagonist would’ve aged otherwise.
Sifuis launching on PC and PlayStation consoles today, but Deluxe Edition owners got access to the game 48 hours early. Even though there wereissues withSifu’s early access downloadson the PlayStation Store, these were promptly resolved, and the developer promised to deliver a mysterious gift to every owner of Deluxe Edition as an apology. Note that the specific nature of the gift is yet to be disclosed, however.
Kusemek’s playthrough makes the game seem easy, but it’s worth remembering thatSifuisn’t a button-masher of any sort. While the majority of players are just about to get started withSifustarting today, it remains to be seen if flawless runs will be relatively commonplace, or if this accomplishment could end up being roughly equal to that of beatingDark Soulswith a dance pad.
Sifuis available for purchase on PC, PS4, and PS5.
