In addition to a new area with its own story,The Frozen Wildsadded a few machines to the world ofHorizon Zero Dawn. Insider Gaming believes that it’s a nod to theHorizon Forbidden West Burning ShoresDLC which seemingly takes place in these locations. According to Insider Gaming,Burning Shoreswill release in April 2023, over a year afterHorizon Forbidden West’s initial launch. Despite the source having a good track record, fans should take every rumor with a grain of salt until official information comes out.
Various other pieces of data from earlier in 2022 also pointed to a DLC forHorizon Forbidden Westbeing in development. Rumors in July indicated that Sony and Guerrilla Games had begun the mocap process for an expansion to the game. More recently, atweet from Lance Reddickcontaining the words “Hard at work in a session for Horizon Forbidden West” suggested that fans will get to play the DLC relatively soon.
The story ofHorizon Forbidden Westdoes a great job of setting up a third game in this series. However, developer Guerrilla Games may decide to take a break from the franchise after theBurning ShoresDLC comes out. As of now, concrete information regarding this DLC has not leaked, but its story probably bridges the gap betweenHorizon Forbidden Westand its sequel.
Considering the rumors of theHorizon Forbidden WestDLC, it looks like fans of this series have plenty to look forward to in the coming years.Horizon Call of the Mountainis a launch title for PS VR2, while a remaster ofHorizon Zero Dawnis also rumored to be in development.
