Rockstar Games has been promotingGrand Theft Auto 5for over eight years now, but while it’s impressive that the game has managed to stay in the spotlight for so long, a good portion of the fanbase has understandably become restless with it. They don’t want to playGTA 5for the entirety of another console generation, which they made clear bydislike-bombing theGTA 5next-gen YouTube trailer.
Fans want to play the next big title in theGrand Theft Autoseries, that logically beingGrand Theft Auto 6. So they’ve spent the last few years pestering Rockstar about it, doing so by either plastering anythingGTA 6related across the publisher’s various social media outlets or by indulging themselves in therumors and speculation surrounding the unconfirmed title. But now it seems Rockstar may finally be getting fed up with the constant reminder thatGTA 5is notGTA 6.

Over on the publisher’s YouTube channel, fans can no longer mention “GTA6” in any of the comments they post on Rockstar’s videos. From the looks of things, comments that contain certain phrases regardingGrand Theft Auto 6have been blocked from appearing on any of the videos in the channel’s roster. Essentially, anyone that wants to continue reminding Rockstar of the demand forGTA 6will have to do so in a creative fashion.
The new filter was brought to light byGrand Theft Autofanand Twitter user Not_StrangeMan, who discovered it when trying to comment “GTA6” on a YouTube video Rockstar posted over 15 years ago. Using a side-by-side comparison, Not_StrangeMan shows that the comment appears on the video when viewing it from the account that posted it, but it didn’t appear when they switched to a different one. That said, they also discovered that the filter only blocks certain variations ofGTA 6. For example, “GTA6” won’t appear on videos, but “GTA VI” will.
Exactly whyRockstardecided to removeGrand Theft Auto 6from its YouTube remains a mystery as the company didn’t block all variations of the title from the channel, nor did it block any variations of the title across the rest of its social media, meaning people can still nag the publisher about it on places like Twitter. If anything, all Rockstar’s done is make people more determined to mentionGTA 6on everything it posts from now on — but maybe that’s the point.
Grand Theft Auto 5is on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions release March 2022.
