A newly released mod allows gamers to play as Nemesis in the originalResident Evil 3. This mod could be very interesting for long-time fans of this entry in the franchise, asResident Evil 3’s remake received mixed reviews, and this changes the experience of playing the original game in several ways.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesiswas released almost 25 years ago, back in 1999. Its villainNemesis became one of the most iconicResident Evilcharacters. The title is often not seen today as fondly asResident Evil 2, for instance, but Nemesis was a memorable character and helped this entry to be remembered by gamers many years after its debut. Now, with the release ofRE3’s remake in 2020, there’s some renewed interest in Jill’s story in Raccoon City, and one modder decided to completely overhaul the game’s experience.

A newResident Evil 3: Nemesismod called “Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Scenario” was released by the modder Komizo recently, and it changes the entire game to allow players to control Nemesis instead of Jill. Originally, gamers could only play as the hero Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira (for a brief sequence) in the story mode, but never the villain. In this mod, Nemesis has a different gameplay, having more life than other playable characters and being able to punch enemies aside from using normal weapons.

According to the mod’s official description,RE3fans can play in two distinct game modes. In the Original Mode, they will play the title’s official story, but with Nemesis as their main character. This mode resembles the original path, but it’s slightly tweaked for it to make sense, as simply changing Jill for Nemesis would make for pretty weird cutscenes, and allows the player to face the previous main character several times during the run. However, there’s another mode called Arrange Mode, which ditches the original story and allows Nemesis to run around Raccoon City killing S.T.A.R.S. members, using the same maps, but with other objectives and item placement. Overall, it looks like a pretty fresh experience for one of thebest entries in theResident Evilfranchisethat may please veterans.

This is not the only reimagining of the classic Capcom game, though. Recently, aYouTuber recreatedResident Evil 3as a Soulslike. Unfortunately, it’s not a mod, as the YouTuber Rustic Gamer BR, who created the content, used Photoshop, Blender, and Unity to create the video by himself, but it’s pretty entertaining for fans to watch.

Resident Evil 3was released for Dreamcast, GameCube, PC, and PlayStation.
