Ever sinceRed Dead Redemption 2released late last year, one thing has dominated the discussion about the future of the game. When will Rockstar debut a sequel to the incredibly popularUndead NightmareDLC? The zombie-related add-on has gone down as one of the greatest expansions of any modern video game, and while Rockstar has admitted it isn’t currently working on it, one talented modder has decided to take matters into their own hands.
Debuting on jedijosh920’s YouTube channel, the creator shows off a brand-new mod that finally adds zombies intoRed Dead Redemption 2. The footage displays the undead husks in action, showing the player running from a swarm of shambling zombies wielding knives as they chase him across a wide-open plain. The video then cuts to both the towns of Valentine and Saint Denis, demonstrating how the zombies attack any civilian or human NPC in sight.

The video has already received high amounts of praise, garnering over 200,000 views and ushering in reams of supportive comments directed towards the talented creator behind the mod. Some of the video’s top comments include a viewer stating “Such a wasted opportunity by rockstar…this looks intense”, while another angrily remarks “Really Rockstar?? Only with mods??? Damn, where are those 2010’s guys who made theLiberty City Stories for GTA 4?” A third fan rightfully praises the mods detail, pointing out that “the law aren’t attacking you, [that] shows how good this mod is.”
It’s a good thing that Rockstar has such an active modding community, as the studio stated earlier this year thatit was currently focusing extensively on multiplayer contentrather than electing to work on the highly-requested single-player DLC forRed Dead Redemption 2. Ever since the hugely successful release ofGrand Theft Auto 5, the studio’s main focus in regards to additional content has been almost entirely on multiplayer expansions, with the team releasing numerous free add-ons to both the popularGTA Onlinemode andRed Dead Online.
This has left modders solely in charge of providing single-player content to the game, which luckily for solo players, has already produced some sensational new features to the game. Since the release ofRed Dead Redemption 2on PC, players have already been able tomorph into animals, play as NPCs, and even use Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker face paint from the recent movie. If talented creators like JediJosh continue to bring out significant content like this newUndead Nightmaremod, the game will no doubt have exceptional single-player content for many years to come.
