This information comes from the official Twitter account ofRainbow Six Siege. It first shows a graph that confirms the number of bans handed out in the past one and a half years. It looks like thousands of players get banned every month thanks to BattlEye anti-cheat software. The number of bans crossed 10,000 in August 2021, and the developers had also banned 3,114 “idle botters”, from November to January.
Banning is key in the efforts to combatcheaters inRainbow Six Siege, but the developer also wants to reduce the possibility of cheats being reproduced. As a result, it has deployed hotfixes to stop 3 cheats – Instantly kill entire lobby, Drones crashing matches, and Drone causing melee damage.Rainbow Six Siegedevelopers also wanted to thank players for continuing to report cheaters.
The next couple of Tweets further detail the steps Ubisoft is taking to fight this issue. A new team member will look into cheat reports that are shared outside the game, which will help in catching cheaters who manage toslip by the anti-cheat detection software. Finally, Ubisoft is adding phone verification to Ranked next season, and it then details a step-by-step process for reporting cheaters.
Cheating a major issue inRainbow Six Siege, and it’s refreshing to see Ubisoft being so clear and informative in its communication. It’s probably impossible to completely stop cheating of all kind, but it’s important for multiplayer games to limit it wherever possible.
