Few games are as creative and accessible asLEGOgames. They combine the creativity of the toy blocks with puzzle-centric gameplay, and they’ve remained consistently enjoyable since the first games came out in the late 90s. The one thing that has allowed theLEGOgames to remain so relevant for so long is how they each focus on a different property from pop culture. Everything fromStar WarstoHarry PotterandLord of the Ringshas been made into aLEGOgame, each of them faithfully recreating the movies with a signature sense of humor.
Although it may seem like every big movie and pop culture franchise under the sun has been given aLEGOgame, there are some properties that still haven’t been immortalized in brick-form. The sheer amount of detail that goes into each game shows thatseries developer Traveler’s Talesknows how important certain properties are to fans. The Marvel and DCLEGOgames are particularly good at demonstrating this, as the vast lists of playable characters encompass the most iconic and obscure heroes to ever be published. It’s high time that some other properties got someLEGOlove, so fans young and old can enjoy their favorite things in a whole new way.

Transformers
ALEGOgame set in theTransformersfranchise would have a lot of room to tell a completely original story. Much like how the Marvel and DC games have created their own unique narratives, aTransformersLEGOgame could takethe very best of the robots in disguiseand make something brand new. There have been a lot of different Autobots and Decepticons over the long history of the franchise, and this would make for an expansive character list. Incorporating some vehicular puzzles and combat would also make thisLEGOgame stand out among the rest.
Doctor Who
The “timey-wimey” world ofDoctor Whohas been touched on inthe toys-to-life gameLEGO Dimensions, but such hybrid games haven’t been relevant for a very long time. There is an immense opportunity for a full-fledgedLEGO Doctor Whogame, considering how the show has spanned thirty-nine series over more than fifty years. A game set in this universe could take a very similar approach to theLEGO Harry Pottergames, with each Doctor having unique skills from the rest based on their specialties in the show. Fans could also have the opportunity to explore worlds like Gallifrey and Skaro more in depth, and with the added charm ofLEGObricks.
Star Trek
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagawill make the sixthLEGOgame to take place in a galaxy far, far away. Which begs the question; why hasn’tLEGOgone where no man has gone before? Just likeDoctor Who, aStar Trekgame would be able to take advantage of decades of different TV shows and films. If the developer wanted, whole games could be dedicated to certain eras ofStar Trek. One game could focus on everything fromThe Original SeriestoEnterprise, another could focus on the Chris Pine films, and a third game based on everything from theDiscoveryseries to the present could round out theLEGOStar Trektrilogy.
WithLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagacoming out sometime this spring, the future landscape ofLEGOgamesis wide open. The lastLEGOgame that wasn’t some kind of sequel was 2018’sLEGO The Incredibles,so it’s likely that the next Traveler’s Tales project will take gamers someplace new. The company has seemingly cracked the code of what makes its games so enjoyable, and it continues to innovate so players have a reason to keep coming back. At this point, as long as there are still pop culture franchises to choose from and fans to play them,LEGOgames are going to keep coming out for a very long time.
