APokemonfan has posted a drawing they made that imagines what a fusion between Dragonair and Sandslash would potentially look like. Fusion art, or Pokefusion, involves different Pokemon and is what it implies as creators draw what they think two or more Pokemon would look like if their designs blended together. Some can turn out adorable likethe art combining Cyndaquil and Buneary, but Dragonair and Sandslash together make for a Pokemon that appears as elegant as it would be intimidating to take on in battle.
Dragonair and Sandslash both first appeared inPokemon Red and Blueas part of the original 151 Pokemon for players to catch, and have been mainstays with appearances in nearly every mainline entry in the series. As a result, they have earned their places in the community with fan art dedicated to imagining how else they could have turned out. A recent example imagined an alternate evolution forDragonair as a Dragon/Fairy-typeinstead of the Flying/Dragon it evolves into with Dragonite.

Reddit user SUPERSADKIDDO decided to take both of these iconic Pokemon and draw what a combination of both would look like, creating a design named Dragonslash that would not be out of place with the rest of thePokemonseries. The art takes the color scheme and face of Dragonair and meshes it with the claws, spikes, and legs from Sandslash. Along with the main piece, SUPERSADKIDDO included a sprite of what Dragonslash would have looked like in a 2DPokemongame.
Dragonslash is not SUPERSADKIDDO’s first foray into Pokefusion either, as they are the artist responsible forthe horrifying combination of Beedrill and Magnemitethat was previously shared on Reddit. While Pokefusion is not the most common type of fan art, SUPERSADKIDDO has shown a real knack for it with now having multiple pieces displayed online in a consistent style that is obviously their own while not looking out of place in the games.
Pokemonfans often show enthusiasm for the series with fan art created using a variety of art styles, such as when an artist drewNacil in the style ofPaper Mario. Regardless of how someone represents their passion for the franchise, fans like SUPERSADKIDDO often prove how the community blends inventiveness with talent to create spins that likely won’t be represented in official media. Yet they cement themselves in the fanbase as inspiring ideas that make one wonder about the different directionsPokemoncould have taken.
