Since last week, aPokemonfan named PTickles has been active on Reddit posting their take on different evolutions for the fan-favorite Eevee that offer it unique typings it cannot currently achieve. Their series began withfan art of a Fighting-type Eevee called Champeon, and for the sixth entry, PTickles has introduced the world to a potential Poison-type evolution called Scorpeon.
Much like the artist’s prior creations, Scorpeon stands out for its clever use of the evolutionary line’s -eon suffix, as well as a fitting design. The Poison-typePokemonis loosely based off the Manticore from Greek mythology, a creature with the body of a lion and a scorpion’s tail. It evolves by leveling up Eevee while afflicted by the poison status effect, as PTickles said they like the idea of evolutions taking effort “without being too complex or convoluted.”

A major part of the design process was giving Scorpeon a saturated magenta coat to evoke real-life poisonous animals advertising their dangerous traits to predators, a phenomenon known as aposematism that can be seen in creatures such as lionfish and wasps according to U.C. Berkeley. PTickles also wanted to make it look closer to Generation 1’s Jolteon, which they say stands out in the family ofEevee evolutions popular enough to get Funko Popsand other merchandise.
The Flying and Ground-type Eevee concepts can be found on the artist’s Instagram and will be uploaded to Reddit later this week. They say they are currently working on Dragon andNormal-typeevolutions, and will follow that up with the ???-type that was removed from the series starting in Generation 5.
Eevee has been a popular monster since the originalPokemon Red,Blue,Green, andYellowreleased in the mid-90s, partially thanks to its potential for having multiple evolutionary paths — with more options being added as future Generations came along. That popularity has offered Eevee special treatment as a pseudo-mascot for the series, including a starring role inPokemon Let’s Go, Eeveeon Switch.
It seems likely that Game Freak will add more Eevee evolutions in the future, as its last attempt through theFairy-type Sylveonwas very successful with fans. Even if they do not take fan-made ideas into account, looking at the series created by PTickles offers an interesting look into what some creative newPokemondesigns could achieve.
