Halloween is the perfect time for horror titles likePhasmophobiato start doling out more updates. This time of the year is basically made for these types of games, with Kinetic Games' ghost-hunting phenomenon beingone of the best horror co-op games to play during the Halloween season. AlthoughPhasmohas already had a number of updates recently, there is still time for more content to be added before October finishes. In fact, it seems as though fans may be getting something, as a recent screenshot seems to tease yet another patch.
In a recent post on Twitter, an image taken fromPhasmophobiahas left some commenters curious as to what it could be referring to, with others still excited about the prospect of a new game update. The screenshot shows the main menu section at the start, where players choose their next contract. It appears to hint at a new system which will implement rules before a game starts. While some of the text has been redacted, there are things listed which suggests that players will be able to start a contract, but be given “no set up time” or that the fuse box will start in the off position, or there will be longer hunt durations. It’s hard to make out the rest, but there’s a rule involving the ghost itself, the sanity pills, and something about a “grace period.”

Although there’s no further information about what it contains, the image was posted by Ben Lavender who, according to his Twitter profile, is a developer for thePhasmophobiastudio. This could suggest that the image is real and not doctored by a fan. This is also not the first time new content has been teased. Recently,Kinetic Games posted another screenshot which hinted at two new ghostsbeing added. Given that the game already had a couple more spooks, it suggests that the studio is going full throttle, adding new content at break-neck speed. Which makes sense, given how close it is to Halloween.
Along with the big “Expedition” update that was rolled out not that long ago, which was released to celebrate the game’s one-year anniversary,Phasmophobiaimplemented a single player mode. This is something that fans have been clamoring for for some time, especially as not everyone has the capacity to play games online, or they simply like the isolating feeling of playing horror by themselves.
Phasmois also one of the highest rated games on Steam, with “overwhelmingly positive” scores being given, and all despite being just one-year old. With its co-operative mode, and unique style of ghost hunting gameplay, it’s hardly surprising that it’s become a huge hit, especially among the streaming community, and this latest tease only leaves fans wanting more.
Phasmophobiais available right now for Android and PC.
