Jenkins initially stepped away from theStar Warsproject due to scheduling conflicts, primarily focusing on her commitment toWonder Woman 3. However, when plans forWonder Woman 3fell apart, Jenkins found herself returning to Lucasfilm to finish her job. Reflecting on the sequence of events, Jenkins explained, “When I leftStar Warsto doWonder Woman 3, and I started working on that, we talked about, ‘Okay, well maybe I’ll come back toStar WarsafterWonder Woman 3,‘ so we did a deal for that to happen, started a deal. But I thought I was doingWonder Woman 3.WhenWonder Woman 3then went away, Lucasfilm and I were like ‘Oh, we’ve got to finish this deal.’ We finished the deal right as the strike was beginning, so I now owe a draft ofStar Wars. So we will see what happens there. Who knows.”
In discussingthe vision forStar Wars: Rogue Squadron, Jenkins expressed her long-held desire to create a fighter pilot movie, which is now becoming a reality.
