Patapon 2has finally made its triumphant return in the form ofPatapon 2 Remastered.The game was first released over a decade ago, so whether players are jumping back into the quirkyPatapon 2now, or for the first time ever, some elements may need to be explained.

Patapon 2has been hinted at for quite some time, but over the past couple of months, rumors were pointing that thecult-classic was finally getting a remaster. The strategy game asks players to build up an army of Patapons to attack the enemy. Players must progress through the game to unlock each Class/Patapon.

Evolution Map

InPatapon 2, players need to unlock new Patapons by using the Evolution Map, which was introduced inPatapon 2. This is, in some ways, similar to a traditional skill tree. Players will be able to unlock “Kibapon” once they unlock  “Pyopyo.” Initially, this may be confusing, as someone may want to select “Kibapon,” but cannot do so immediately. Once players unlock each class, they can continue to unlock the “Rarepons” through discovering their Memories/Scrolls in-game and the help of the evolution map.

Yaripons

Yaripons are the spear-throwing Patapons. Players should be familiar with this type because the Yaripons are the first type that players have access to when they boot up the game.

Pyopyo is fast and has bunny-like features. Pyopyo is unlocked by evolving the Yaripons.

Kibapons are horse-riding Patapons that do heavy damage. Kipapons are unlocked as soon as the evolution is completed from Yaripon to Pyopyo.

Sabaras are critical attack Patapons. Sabaras are unlocked by evolving the Yaripons.

Toripon is the bird Patapon and uses javelins to attack. Toripon is unlocked as soon as the evolution is completed from Sabara to Pyopyo.

The following Patapons all need to be unlocked by finding their corresponding memories in-game and with the help of the aforementioned Evolution Map:

Sabara

Tatepons

Tatepon is the main melee unit inPatapon 2. This Pataponis acquired by clearing the “Exploring the Juju Jungle” level.

Wanda is a dog-like Patapon. Wanda is unlocked by evolving any of the Tatepon species.

Dekapon is a club-wielding Patapon. Dekapon is unlocked as soon as evolution is completed from Tatepon to Wanda.

Kanokko resembles a deer and uses spears to attack. Kanokko is unlocked by evolving any of the Tatepon species.

Robopon strikes with giant robotic arms. Robopon is unlocked as soon as evolution is completed from Tatepon to Kanokko.

Chigyobi

Yumipons

Yumipons are bow-wielding Patapons.To acquire Yumipons the player must clear “Karmen Usso Forest Fortress.”

Menyoki resembles a tree and has the best stagger rate. Menyoki is unlocked by evolving a Yumipon.

Megapon carries around giant instruments and is quite unique. Megapon is unlocked as soon as evolution is completed from Yumipon to Menyoki.

Koppen is a penguin-like Patapon. Koppen is unlocked by evolving a Yumipon.

Mahopon is a magician type Patapon. Mahopon is unlocked as soon as evolution is completed from Yumipon to Mahopon.
