Overwatchfans may be anxious to learn 2, but in the meantime, Blizzard is still releasing content for the new game. More substantial content like new maps and playable characters will have to wait for the sequel, but Blizzard has consistently been releasing new skins for the popular hero-shooter. The latestOverwatchskin is the Dusk Reaper legendary skin, and it’s available to earn in-game right now.
Blizzard has kicked off the latestOverwatchspecial event,Reaper’s Code of Violence. Like similarOverwatchevents, players are tasked with playing a certain number of games within a designated window. If they are successful, then they will be able to claim a variety of cosmetic rewards for their collection. With the Reaper’s Code of Violence event, the grand prize is the impressive-looking Dusk Reaper skin.

Blizzard showed off this new skin through a short gameplay video that shows the skin in action. Players have from today until March 8 to win the skin and its associated cosmetics. Playing nine games inQuick Play, Arcade, or Competitive will earn players a Dusk Reaper icon, whereas 18 games unlocks a Dusk Reaper spray. 27 games will earn players the Dusk Reaper skin. Wins count as two games, soOverwatchplayers can potentially earn the Dusk Reaper skin in just 14 games if they play well enough.
The Reaper’s Code of Violence event will likely precede the return of theOverwatchArchives event. TheOverwatchArchives event takes place in March or April every year, giving fans the opportunity to play story-based missions that show glimpses of the titular Overwatch team’s past exploits. These missions give fans a taste of what properOverwatchPvE will be like, though they’ll have to wait for the sequel to see the idea fully realized.
There have been no substantial updates on theOverwatch 2release date, though there is some hope that the game will be out by the end of 2022. However, fans should keep their expectations in check. It’s entirely possible thatOverwatch 2will get pushed to 2023, especially when one considers the behind-the-scenes issues that have been plaguing Blizzard this past year.
We do know that the next season of the Overwatch League will be using apre-release version ofOverwatch 2, and there are rumors that anOW2beta could be starting at some point in the relatively near future. While fans wait for more information on that front, they can check out Reaper’s Code of Violence and do their best to unlock the Dusk Reaper skin in the game.
Overwatchis out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
