Blizzard could very well be teasing fans that Mauga is going to be the new Tank hero inOverwatch 2, if the game’s newly-revealed Samoa map is any indication. The upcomingOverwatch 2Season 7 will see the debut of the brand-new Control map Samoa. Blizzard has shown off the new map toOverwatch 2fans, but they won’t actually get to jump in and try it out for themselves until Tuesday, October 10.
Tuesday, October 10 is the day thatOverwatch 2Season 7goes live. Not only will that day see the debut of the new Samoa Control map, but it’s also expected to kick offOverwatch 2’s Halloween Terror festivities. This year’s event will see a Halloween-themed makeover for Blizzard World as well as the debut of aDiablo 4Lilith skin for popular Support hero Moira.Overwatch 2Season 7’s October 10 launch isn’t the only date that fans of Blizzard’s hero-shooter should mark on their calendars, though.
November 3 is also going to be a big day forOverwatch 2fans. BlizzCon 2023 takes place that day, with Blizzard confirming that the event will see the reveal of the newOverwatch 2Tank hero. Blizzard has yet to reveal exactly who thenewOverwatch 2Tank herois, but the Samoa map points to Mauga being the most likely candidate.
Overwatch 2: Who is Mauga?
Mauga is a Samoan Talon operativewho was previously associated with Support hero Baptiste. He was featured in a short story, but has otherwise not been seen much inOverwatchlore.Overwatchfans have been expecting to see Mauga added to the game ever since he was first introduced, with Blizzard apparently even having plans to do just that at one point, only to give the kit it designed for him to Sigma.
That doesn’t mean Blizzard is giving up on adding Mauga toOverwatch 2entirely. Theaddition of the Samoa mapdefinitely seems like Blizzard is gearing up to add Mauga to the hero shooter proper, and it will be exciting to see if the map itself has any Easter eggs pointing in his direction.Overwatch 2players will want to check every nook and cranny of the Samoa map once it’s added to the game on October 10, and they’ll definitely want to mark their calenders for the game’s big BlizzCon 2023 showcase that’s scheduled to take place on November 3 as well.
