The Junker Queen Origin Story operates in a slideshow-like formlike manyOverwatchOrigin Stories. However, instead of personal narration by the character themselves, the Junker Queen’s Origin story is sung instead. The catchy punk jam is performed by none other than Amyl and the Sniffers, a pub and punk rock band based in Melbourne, Australia–the same nation as the Junker Queen in theOverwatchuniverse. The final verse itself is sung by the Australian-Sri Lankan voice actress Leah de Niese, who voices the Junker Queen herself.
Overwatch 2shared Junker Queen’s Origin Storyalongside the animated short, “The Wastelander.” The video, which wasOverwatch’sfirst animated short in nearly three years, showed how Odessa “Dez” Stone claimed the crown and title of Junker Queen and took the throne of Junkertown. It also showed off the Junker Queen’s moxie and charisma, as well as the new Tank hero’s kit inOverwatch 2.
Players are understandably excited for the Junker Queen inOverwatch 2. They got a taste of theMad Max-like wastelands of Australia with Junkrat, Roadhog, and the Junkertown map, but the Junker Queen adds a whole new spin on the lore of the Outback. On top of that, her aesthetic as a punk rock icon is quite popular, and many players can’t wait to play her–both because ofthe Junker Queen’s looks and abilities inOverwatch 2.
PvP inOverwatch 2is changing in some pretty big ways. For starters, teams will now consist of five players, rather than the six fromOverwatch. The Junker Queen is the first tank hero designed from the ground up to be a solo tank with these 5v5 skirmishes in mind, so many players are interested to see how the aggressive hero compares to other tanks. Players will not have to wait long to find out–the nextOverwatch 2beta event starts on June 28th, and it will be available on both PC and consoles.
Overwatch 2launches in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 4.
