Blizzard has released a brand-new trailer forOverwatch 2that is all about the hero shooter’s new PvE story missions.Overwatchfans have been asking for proper story missionsfor years, and now it’s finally happening with the massive Invasion update on August 10.
Overwatch 2’s Invasion update is easily the biggest update that the game has received since its early access launch last year. Blizzard has confirmed that the Invasion update will include a brand-new Support hero, the new Flashpoint game mode, and of course, PvE story missions.Overwatch 2’s PvE story will start with a set of three missions, with Blizzard planning on adding more missions to the game at some point next year.

To get fans hyped about theOverwatch 2PvE story missions, Blizzard has released a new trailer that sets the stage. In it, fans can see Omnic terrorist group Null Sector invading Toronto with the apparent goal of rounding up the city’s Omnics. Players can also get a glimpse at some of the other PvE story missions that will be featured in theOverwatch 2Invasion update, including one that will see them come into contact with a massive robot. The trailer ends with athreat from Ramattra, a relatively new Tank hero who is apparently serving as the main antagonist ofOverwatch 2’s ongoing narrative.
This new PvE trailer isn’t the only cinematic Blizzard released forOverwatch 2today. It also released a short video showing John Cena as new hacker character The Enigma, not to mention anew animated short for Sojourn. TheOverwatch 2Sojourn animated short shows what the Damage hero was up to in the moments before Null Sector invasion of Toronto, which shows fans how the invasion started out from a different perspective.
Blizzard is clearly going all out with theOverwatch 2Invasion update, but time will tell if it pays off. Activision has admitted thatOverwatch 2player engagement is down, and it’s unclear if Invasion will be enough to not only bring back lapsed players, but get the attention of newcomers as well.
Fans have not been happy about the$15 tag price for theOverwatch 2PvE story missions, and it’s possible that barrier will keep players from enjoying the Invasion update to its fullest. Fans will have a much better idea of the impact that Invasion will have onOverwatch 2when the update goes live on August 10.
