It’s been announced thatRogue Companyis shutting down on the Nintendo Switch come April 20, with in-game purchases shuttered earlier this month. The developers explained that it is ending support for the Switch version ofRogue Companybecause the port didn’t live up to their standards. By shutting down the Nintendo Switch version ofRogue Company, the team can dedicate more resources toRogue Companyon PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. Nintendo Switch gamers are encouraged to link their Hi-Rez account so they can keep their progress if they decide to migrate to the PC, PlayStation, or Xbox versions ofRogue Companyafter the shutdown.

When is Rogue Company on Switch Shutting Down?

It’s no secret that the Nintendo Switch is outdated hardware. The Switch console is over six years old at this point, and it simply can’t compete with the PS5 and Xbox Series X in terms of power. Unfortunately, this has resulted in some lackluster Switch ports of games that perform well on other platforms. If Nintendo ever released therumored Switch Pro console, it could have closed the gap a bit, but at this point, it seems likely that Nintendo is going to leap forward with a Switch successor as its next system instead.

There were Switch-specific issues plaguingRogue Company, but perhaps those problems could be ironed out if the game were to release on aSwitch 2 console, or whatever Nintendo ends up calling its next system. No plans have actually been announced to bringRogue Companyto future Nintendo platforms, though, so fans of the game will still want to verify they migrate to another platform if they want to keep playing it for the foreseeable future.

Rogue Companycontinues to receive updatesthat add new content to the shooter, so those that decide to stick with it on another platform should have plenty to look forward to in the months and years ahead.

Rogue Companyis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with the Switch version shutting down June 20. Android and iOS versions are in development.
