Kindness is a great feature in anyone, even in fictional characters. Some of the most popular characters are the ones who leave fuzzy feelings in the reader’s stomach or cause a certain protective instinct. They’re often incredibly optimistic despite the things they may experience.
Much of the popular media focuses on characters that use darker archetypes, like Sung Jin-Woo fromSolo Leveling, and while they’re entertaining, sometimes it’s nice to read something a little lighter. Reading a manhwa with a favorite comfort character is a great way to de-stress and relax.

Many may see Maximilian as a weak character, the kind of female lead who doesn’t do much. However, that’s what makes her growth as a character so great. AlthoughUnder the Oak Treeis a romance, the story is really about Maxi overcoming her insecurities and becoming proud of herself.
Maxi grew up being mistreated by her family, especially her father, so it’s heartwarming to see her trying hard to learn new skills that she wouldn’t have before. She grew up very sheltered, so it’s easy to root for her as she makes decisions for herself for the first time.

Many manhwa that include magic usually skip the learning part and go right to action and combat, but for Shirone, it’s the entire point of the story. Shironeloves magic and learning about it, and his passion for it is incredibly pure. From the moment he saw magic for the first time, he decided that’s what he wanted to do.
Despite his intelligence and passion for learning, Shirone is actually quite naive, often tricked by the pranks his friends play on him at school. Although this can lead to others taking advantage of him, his earnestness and honesty never waver.

Despite his love of food and cuisine, he suffers from many health complications due to overeating. That’s why seeing him enjoy himself is so satisfying.
By playing the VR gameAthenae, he can eat as much as he wants. His genuine love for eating is fun to watch, especially as he befriends NPCs in the game while looking for ingredients. All he wants to do is eat and enjoy meals with others, and that is very wholesome.

Romance is typically full of kind and comforting characters, especially in isekai manhwa where things can be much more fantastical, and Peony is no different. She’s sweet, caring, and a good person in general, but it’s her feelings for Richt that motivate this story.
Those feelings have always been pure. Even when she proposes, Peony only wants to ensure Richt isn’t drowning in his misery. She had no thoughts about having her love be requited, but she still wanted to make sure he was living well.

Humor does wonders for a character’s likability,and for Rosa Park, it makes her ten times more endearing. While she doesn’t actively try to be funny, her innocent and well-meaning behavior gets her into many funny scenarios. It’s even more hilarious that she’s unaware of what she’s doing half the time.
Specifically, it’s her crush on Doryeong Han that gets herlabeled as a supervillain, but despite this, she still does her best to make things right, even if it does cause more misunderstandings. Despite wielding phenomenal power, Rosa is still just a shy girl who has trouble communicating.

Eleceedis an incredibly popular manhwa, and part of its success is largely due to the main character, Seo Jiwoo. Many readers are drawn to Jiwoo’s kindness and the affection he has for his friends, as well as his politeness towards those he doesn’t know. He assumes the best in people despite having many experiences that should make him more distrustful.
Because of Jiwoo’s history, many of his reactions and behaviors are incredibly innocent. It’s not often a protagonist will take the time to convey their genuineappreciation for their friends and family, so having Jiwoo do it many times in the series makes him more endearing.

Most child protagonists act much older than they are because they’re usually reincarnated, but Lyrica isan actual childgoing through some special circumstances. Her reactions and behavior are filled with an innocent wonder, and it’s reflected in the whimsical art style.
Her kindness and care are felt by everyone around her as she tries to take their well-being into her own hands, always extending her support to any who needs it. Despite being so young, she takes that responsibility very seriously because she loves everyone around her.
