The main change in the latestMortal Kombat 1update, which was released today, is bringing Ermac to the game’s roster. However, only a few gamers may already use Ermac today, as the new character will only be live in “Early Access” for now. People who did not purchase the special editions ofMortal Kombat 1or have the Season Pass will need to wait until April 23 to use Ermac.
Apart from the addition of this new character, the update comes with several other changes. Dozens of bugs have been fixed, such as issues that caused visual glitches, health values displayed incorrectly on the screen, or problems in the online mode. The game’s AI received several adjustments, and many characters suffered balancing changes. While most of the character balancing changes were related to bugs, some of them are actual gameplay tweaks, such as the recovery times after Raiden missing an Electric Fly being increased by eight frames or Rain getting new Basic Attacks.
While this is a significant update that will please most gamers, Ermac’s addition to the game has not been without its controversies. Recently, a few rumors surfaced claiming thatErmac could have been cut fromMortal Kombat 1’s main roster. Some fans recently looked at a vinyl cover art of the game’s soundtrack, and found evidence that both Ermac and Shang-Tsung could have been planned to be in the initial roster, but were turned into DLC characters later.
Now, theMK1fanbase is left to wonder what the next character to be added to the game will be. Somerumors indicate that Deathstroke could be added toMortal Kombat 1sometime in the future, but there’s no official confirmation of that right now.
