The following contains spoilers for the season finale ofMoon Knight.

Moon Knighthas done a great job at showing off the dynamic between Marc Spector and Steven Grant as two people who exist within the same body. There are a lot of personality and body language differences between the two characters, and Oscar Isaac does a perfect job of portraying both of them. Getting to see Marc and Steve finally work together and learn to coexist in a more healthy manner in the finale was incredibly satisfying to watch.

However, there have also been hints throughout the series of a third personality. There are times when Marc and Steven both black out and come to with dead bodies and carnage around them, violence that neither of them has committed. Fans of the comics knew what the show was hinting towards, but more casual viewers might not know what character they were referencing until he was revealed in the finale. In thepost-credits scene of Episode 6, the audience is introduced to Jake Lockley, who is apparently still the avatar for Khonshu. But who exactly is Jake Lockley in the comics, and how does he differ from the very short glimpse of him that is shown off in the finale ofMoon Knight?

In the comics, Jake Lockley is the most violent of the personalities, much more so than the other two alters. He was first introduced as one of Marc’s disguises before becoming a full personality in and of himself. Jake works as a cab driver who has a lot of connections with criminals and the seedy underbelly of society. While Marc wasundercover as Jake, he gained a whole network of criminal allies and spies in order to keep him informed on his enemies. However, Jake started taking on a life of his own as Marc’s mind started to fracture more, and the disguises he wore turned into full-on alters, individuals with their own separate identities and memories.

Jake differs from Marc and Steven because he’s much more dangerous and volatile, especially in the context of the MCU’sMoon Knight. Steven is mostly averse to violence and is the softest of the three, while Marc,as a mercenary, is of course used to violence and is not afraid to employ it — however, he doesn’t go too far with it. Jake, on the other hand, seems much more open to the most violent option, as seen in the post-credits scene where he (seemingly) murders Arthur Harrow in cold blood before driving away.

The show did a great job of giving subtle hints towards Jake’s eventual appearance, without trying to shroud it in too much mystery for those who were already aware of his existence. There are multiple scenes where the reflection technique is used (where Marc and Steven are able to talk to each other through reflections) where a third reflection is slightly seen, which isa small nod to Jake’s presence lurking in the background. In episode 4, as Marc and Steven are passing into the Underworld, there is a shot of a sarcophagus looming over them. Directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have confirmed that this was intended to be Jake. They wanted to plant that initial seed that there was something else lurking under the surface, something that they referred to as “supernatural or demonic.”

In the comics, Jake fights evil alongside Moon Knight, and is still not seen as a force of evil despite all of his criminal connections. However, it seems like the MCU is positioning him to be much more of a bad guy, perhaps even a sort of embodiment of evil, and a presence thatMarc and Steven will have to fightagainst. It likely won’t take long for them to clue into the fact that someone else is controlling the body for long periods of time, and it will be interesting to see them wrestle for control. Perhaps in a mirror to the first season, they will have to get Jake to learn to trust them and work with them as well.

Of course, these are all just predictions about where apossible second seasonof the show could go, as no official announcement has been made at the time of the publication of this article. But it seems like the show is straying a bit from the way the characters are portrayed in the comics, so it will be interesting to see how the creators decide to portray Jake. He’s a complex character with a lot of differences from Marc and Steven, and the newfound friendly dynamic between those two will more than likely be tested with the introduction of Jake Lockley.
