The most recentAnimal Crossingtitle was one of the most successful additions to the franchise followingAnimal Crossing: New Leafin 2012. Debuting during a global pandemic while also allowing players to customize an island to their own personal preferences led toAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsbecoming one of Nintendo’s top-sellersfor the Switch. It’s no surprise that the friendly atmosphere of the social simulation, various customization options, and cute animal neighbors scratched a unique itch for many.
While the lastAnimal Crossingwas incredibly popular, Nintendo still has plenty of options to consider for the sixth installment of the social simulation series. For example, inAnimal Crossingthere are 488 villagers available, though only 413 appear inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, excluding residents such as Isabelle and Tom Nook. While there were no new species added toAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, there were plenty of new villagers to meet. Still, Nintendo could benefit from bringing back a few nostalgic villagers for long-time players.

Dozer the Lazy Bear
Dozer is one of the lazy personality types similar to Joey, Derwin, and Broccolo. The little purple bear is almost always seen with his eyes closed, which directly coincides with his name. His Japanese name is actually Surīpu, which when translated to English means Sleep. Thelaid-back yet lovableAnimal Crossingbearhas been abandoned in games likeAnimal Forest,Animal Crossing, andAnimal Forest e+for far too long, and he deserves a chance to shine in a futureAnimal Crossingtitle.
Woolio the Jock Sheep
Woolio is a jock personality from the firstAnimal CrossingtitleDobutsu no Mori, which launched on the Nintendo 64 in Japan. He’s more commonly known as the “cool sheep” among fans due to his sunglasses and rock star attire. He has a great interest in fitness and sports, though he can come across as rude when criticizing other residents. Many of the sheep in the franchise are female, which means having another male sheep on the roster could be exactly what Nintendo needs for its next installment.
Belle the Peppy Cow
Therarest villager types inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsmay surprise some players, with octopus ranking at the top of the list and cows taking second place. Belle the peppy cow is one of eight cows that exist in the entire franchise. Unlike cow villagers such as Naomi, Petunia, or Norma, Belle appears to be a normal white cow with black spots like Tipper. Her peppy personality has her almost always in a good mood and willing to try new activities. Her positive and energetic demeanor could be a perfect addition toAnimal Crossing: New Horizons' successor.
Cupcake the Snooty Cub
Cupcake is a snooty bear cub who largely resembles Ursala with her pink fur and purple accents. Her self-centered attitude can be offsetting for some players, but it also means that this little cub is very well-spoken. Typically, thesnooty personality type inAnimal Crossingis avoided, but if someone is patient enough, they may come to love Cupcake due to her adoration of makeup and gossip.
Unfortunately, no new villagers will be added toAnimal Crossing: New Horizons' following Nintendo’s announcement that there wouldn’t be more content after the 2.0 update. Hopefully, when the nextAnimal Crossinggame is announced, Nintendo will consider bringing back these characters. After all, returning players and newcomers to the franchise would most likely be ecstatic to see a few nostalgic faces.
