Mike Tyson is making it clear that he does not approve ofHulu’s upcoming seriesMike. The series, which stars Trevante Rhodes and was created by Steven Rogers, is a biopic about the life and career of the former professional heavyweight boxer.

Over the past few months,Huluhas adapted many real stories into series, withThe Girl From Plainvillestarring Elle Fanning andThe Dropoutstarring Amanda Seyfriedbeing a few examples. With the major successes these series have brought to the streaming platform, Hulu has decided to stick with what works, which has led to the newest seriesMike. However, news of the series has made its way to Tyson, and he’s making it clear that he’s not excited about the upcoming series.

In two posts via Instagram, Tyson shared his thoughts aboutMike. In the first post, he praised Dana White, the president of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), alleging that Hulu tried to pay White to promote the upcoming series, but White declined, stating that he “honors friendship.” Tyson went on to call the upcoming series a “slave master take over story” of his life. In another post, Tyson wrote, “Don’t let Hulu fool you. I don’t support their story about my life. It’s not 1822. It’s 2022. They stole my life story and didn’t pay me. To Hulu executives, I’m just a n****r they can sell on the auction block.”

The series is set to premiere its first two episodes on the streaming site in August, and the entire season will consist of 8 episodes. Tyson had signed on to be an executive producer of another show set to tell the story of his life, withactor Jamie Foxxcast to star as Tyson. However, the series never found a network, which led to the development of the project being halted.

The boxer’s anger about the network telling his story without his involvement is valid, and it’s also disappointing to hear that the network didn’t offer him any compensation for telling the story as well. With Tyson being very vocal with his negative feelings aboutMike, it’s fair to say he’ll be even more vocal when the first episodes of the series are available for streaming on Hulu later this month.

As the release date approaches, audiences will see ifMiketells an honest depiction of the boxer’s life and career, and if Tyson has more to say about Hulu’s adaptation.
