Tokyo Game Show 2021 is just a few weeks away andXboxhas revealed its plans for the conference. Fans can expect a livestream that gives updates on some ofXbox’s upcoming games.
Over the past few weeks, attendees ofTokyo Game Show Online 2021have been announcing their plans for the conference. The four-day event held at Makuhari Messe in Japan is hosting a hybrid conference this year, with both a combination of in-person and digital formats. Joining Xbox at the event are Capcom, Square Enix, Konami, Ubisoft and many more of gaming’s finest developers. This will not be Xbox’s first time at TGS Online, having attended last year’s strictly digitial conference.

Microsoft announced on Xbox Wire this morning its plans for this year’s Tokyo Game Show Online 2021. Written by Head of Xbox Asia, Jeremy Hinton, they detail that Xbox will be hosting a virtual stream on the first day of TGS, Thursday, September 30 at 6 PM JST. This stream will be “curated for players in Japan and across Asia,” with updates on games that are locally relevant. Hinton clarifies that “no new global debuts should be expected,” unlikeXbox’s showing at Gamescom 2021, where many world reveals occurred.
From the promotional art to the aim of its showcase, Xbox is clearly tailoring its presentation for its Asian players. Atlast year’s Xbox Tokyo Game Show appearance, there were minimal large updates, the event focusing on titles likeMicrosoft Flight Simulator,Minecraft, andResident Evil Village. UsingMicrosoft Flight Simulatoras an example, Xbox showed off the game’s depiction of Japan, with photorealistic renderings of major Japanese cities and airports. Fans tuning in from other parts of the world should expect an event with announcements that are likely not aimed for their region’s audience.
What Xbox games then, might receive updates at the conference? Another one of the big titles shown at least year’s event wasPragmata, an upcoming new IP from Capcom, that was noticeably missing from this year’s E3. Though the game has since been confirmed to be coming also to the PS5, there is a chance that Capcom has been waiting to show it off at TGS so that it can really standout. Without any official word yet of what Capcom’s plans are, there is no telling which of its games might make their way intoXbox’s showcase.
