Captain America and Black Widow are reuniting, sort of. Marvel stars Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson will be re-teaming onGhosted, a new romantic action-adventure film forApple TV Plus.

Apple TV Plus’Ghostedwill be directed by Dexter Fletcher, who helmedRocketmanand finished filmingBohemian Rhapsody, and will be written byDeadpoolandZombielandwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Evans will produce the film alongside Skydance’s Dave Ellison, who is also known for producingthe upcomingMission: Impossible 7andMission: Impossible 8.

Ghosted, which is still very much early in development, is being compared to other adventure films likeRomancing the Stone, Michael Douglas' and Kathleen Turner’s 1984 box office hit. Evans and Johansson worked together onCaptain America: The Winter Soldier,Captain America: Civil War,and all threeAvengersfilms, playing the respective roles of Captain America and Black Widow that became instant fan favorites. They look to carry over their on-screen chemistry from those films to this new one. Deadline first reported on Evans and Johansson’s new project.

Johansson also recently signed on to star in Wes Anderson’s next filmamid a lawsuit against Disneyinvolving contract breaches with Disney Plus' release ofBlack Widow. Johansson will star alongside Margot Robbie, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Tom Hanks, and Adrien Brody. Production for the film is taking place in Spain. This will be Evans’s second time working with Apple, as he also starred in the legal dramaDefending Jacob. He will also star alongside Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas in Netflix’s upcomingThe Gray Man, the new spy thriller fromAvengers: Endgamedirectors Anthony and Joe Russo.

Apple TV Plus continues to impress with its high-budget features, having recently filmed Martin Scorsese’swestern crime dramaKillers of the Flower Moon, which will star Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. The streamer is also now in production onEmancipation, a slave drama starring Will Smith and directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day,Shooter,The Equalizer). Apple TV is also behind Ridley Scott’s upcoming dramaKitbag, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Napolean Bonaparte and Jodie Comer as Josephine.

WithGhostedbringing in two stars like Evans and Johansson, who are at the top of their game, and a director with Fletcher’s vision, it’s clear this could potentially be one of Apple’s biggest and most exciting projects to date. Apple TV Plus' other films includeGreyhound,a World War II film starring Tom Hanks, and the crime dramaCherry, which is also directed by the Russo Brothers and reunites them withMCU’s Spider-Man star Tom Holland.
