Marvel’s Midnight Sunshas had an exciting week of reveals for its post-launch Season Pass DLC. Marvel icons such as Morbius and Storm will be added, as leaked by Deadpool. But one character is more of a natural choice than the others;Eddie Brock Jr.’s Venom is already part ofMarvel’s Midnight Suns, though on release he will only appear as an antagonist. This meansMarvel’s Midnight Sunsalready has animations and more established for the character, and thus transitioning him into a playable character may be simpler.
Either way, Venom is an interesting addition since there have been multiple iconic interpretations of the character already. It seemsMarvel’s Midnight Sunshas taken a comics-inspired approach to his default appearance, where the symbiote menace is a hulking figure. Further,Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ concept art for Venomis also faithful to early Todd MacFarlane illustrations of Eddie. Insomniac Games is also set to have its own iteration of Venom in the future, and it is possible that it could find inspiration fromMarvel’s Midnight Suns’ take.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns Adds Its Second Playable Villain with Venom
Marvel’s Midnight Sunsadding Venom as a playable character in the Season Pass may seem like a strange decision on paper, but he will not be the only villain on the playable roster givenScarlet Witch has already been revealed forMarvel’s Midnight Suns. This suggests both characters will be rehabilitated from their corrupt conditions during the events of the game, though Venom will likely leave thereafter while Scarlet Witch immediately secures her spot in the base game. It will be interesting to see how much changes between what fans see of Venom as an antagonist compared to what they see of him as a protagonist.
Likewise, he will almost assuredly have animations and attacks that the corrupted antagonist does not in order to round out his unique attack, skill, and heroics cards forMarvel’s Midnight Suns. It will also be interesting to see how Eddie behaves in the Abbey, and if the symbiote decides to randomly take him over to include itself in optional conversations.

What Insomniac Could Take Away from Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Venom
Insomniac’sMarvel’s Spider-Man 2may not be able to take anything away fromMarvel’s Midnight Suns’ social elements, but it could draw inspiration from different attacks or abilities in the character’s deck.Marvel’s Midnight Sunsmay also draw inspiration elsewhere for its Venom, such as his appearances in games likeMarvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Superheroes,Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite,Ultimate Spider-Man, or theMarvel Ultimate Alliancefranchise.
Insomniac could take note of how the character moves and animates, or it could simply take after the effects that occur when the symbiote behaves of its own accord independent of Eddie. It is already known thatInsomniac’s Venom will be played by Tony Todd, which carves a unique iteration forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2already.
Moreover, Insomniac could have already completely designed its Venom with no need to look around for influence on how the character should be designed. It is possible that new inspirations could affect development and urge Insomniac to add something unique, but that would depend on how deepMarvel’s Spider-Man 2is into development. Regardless, fans will have to wait and see if there are any comparable ideas shared betweenMarvel’s Midnight SunsandMarvel’s Spider-Man 2.
