Logan Paul is down $25,000 after his dog nearly ate a rare PSA 9 Charizard card from the popularPokemon Trading Card Game.
Discussing his new love for investing in all thingsPokemonon his Impaulsive podcast, Paul revealed that though he still has the card, it’s gone for good, inferring the card may have lost its value after the incident.

The controversial YouTuber, who is known for feuding with other YouTubers, making viral videos, andreleasing diss tracksrecently revealed his love forPokemoncard collecting on Instagram where he shared his current collection, which he only recently began. It’s no secret that collectible card games of all sorts have a lot of money investment for those looking for the rarest cards, from buying booster packs in order to find that one rare card to spending thousands of dollars on that one special card on its own.
During the podcast Paul also revealed he recently spent $216,000 at Heritage Auction on a 1st edition booster box from the base set in 1999. The booster box is said to be extremely rare with very few out in the wild. It’s no surprise that a booster box from that era is so expensive, like many TCGs new sets are introduced intothePokemon TCGregularly meaning that older sets go out of print, which only drives up the value of the limited quantities of certain cards. While many of the original sets could be found in the homes of collectors now-a-days, others can be found in the oddest places such as anold booster pack recently found at a Target.
In addition, many TCGs have standards for rarities of cards, while some cards are a dime a dozen, others can reach values up into the thousands. Recently,an extremely rare Pokemon TCG cardwith a Gen Mint 10 rating was sold for $90,000 at an auction. The card, a Super Secret Battle No. 1 Trainer card, featured a holographic Mewtwo. While not the most expensive card, the condition of the card was impeccable, especially considering the card is from 1999.
Meanwhile, thePokemon TCGis receiving anothermini set this February in celebration ofPokemon’s 25th anniversaryin 2021. While details are currently unknown as to what the set will contain, it is known that the set will specifically entail Elite Trainer boxes, pin boxes, and two variant tin sets with no separate booster packs.
Despite the popularity of TCG, many companies, including the Pokemon Company International, have moved to a digital front with online versions of thePokemon TCG. Due to Covid-19, the typical in-person tournaments have had to refocus to online only, including the popularPokemonNorth American International Tournament, which has been reorganized underas new digital tournement called The Play! Pokemon.
