Square Enix hosted its Square Enix Presents showcase today, revealing all kinds of new games and details about its upcoming projects. Prior to the event,Square Enix teased thatLife is Strange 3was going to be announced, and it followed through on that promise. As revealed by Square Enix,Life is Strange 3is officially titledLife is Strange: True Colors, developed by Deck Nine with a September 10 release date for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Surprisingly, the game will be dropping the episodic release format that the series has used so far.
InLife is Strange: True Colors, players take on the role of Alex Chen, portrayed by Erika Mori, as she moves to Haven Springs to reconnect with her brother Gabe after having spent eight years apart. Like otherLife is Strangegames, things go off the rails pretty quick, as Gabe dies in a supposed “accident” and Alex is forced to use her special supernatural abilities to solve the mystery behind her brother’s death.

While Max Caulfield could reverse time in the firstLife is Strangegame,Alex Chen has super-powered empathy. She is able to feel other peoples' emotions and can see what caused them to feel that way. If someone is feeling an especially powerful emotion, Alex can completely lose control of her powers.
SomeLife is Strangefans may be confused about the developer forLife is Strange: True Colors. After all,Dontnod Entertainmentwas the studio behind the originalLife is Strangeand its sequel,Life is Strange 2. But while Dontnod may have createdLife is Strange, Square Enix actually owns the rights to the IP and has actually let Deck Nine develop a game in the adventure series in the past.
As a matter of fact, Deck Nine was the developer behindLife is Strange: Before the Storm. For the uninitiated,Life is Strange: Before the Stormis a spinoff of the originalLife is Strangegame. It is set three years before the events of the original game, with players taking on the role of Chloe Price. It also features a character named Steph Gingrich, who will actually be featured inLife is Strange: True Colorsas well.
There will be multiple editions ofLife is Strange: True Colorsavailable, including an Ultimate Edition that includes remasters of theoriginalLife is StrangeandBefore the Storm. Exact release details for those games have not been confirmed, but fans can look forward toLife is Strange: True Colorson September 10.
