LEGO executives have suggested that this partnership could expand outside of theSuper Mariofranchise, and a recent leak suggests that a long-awaitedLEGO set based onThe Legend of Zeldacould finally be revealed. In the meantime, it looks like Nintendo and LEGO are planning something special to celebrate everyone’s favorite red-clad, Koopa-stomping plumber.RELATED:LEGO Reveals Lord of the Rings Rivendell SetEarlier today, LEGO’s official Twitter account announced that “final preparations” are being made for a special presentation that will stream on YouTube during Friday’s “Mario Day” celebrations at 8 AM Pacific Time or 11 AM Eastern. Named the “Lego Super Mario YouTube Premiere,” this event will reportedly feature “exclusive content and a big reveal” from host Jack Gardner. Images of Gardnerholding the Bowser LEGO setand getting ready for the upcoming show were also included in the recent post, but there are no further details yet on what will be shown off.
Mario Day is held every year on March 10, due to “Mar 10” looking very similar to Mario’s name. Fans have been celebrating Mario Day for years before Nintendo officially started acknowledging it in 2016. Since then, the mega-publisher and console maker has used March 10 to promote the many differentMariogames byoffering up special Nintendo Switch bundlesand hosting special events. Meanwhile,Mariofans from all around the world celebrate by dressing up as their favorite characters and streaming Let’s Play videos of themselves trying outMariogames they hadn’t played before.
Now it seems that LEGO is joining in on the Mario Day fun this year in honor of the many Mushroom Kingdom-themed sets it has released in partnership with Nintendo. There is no telling what new set orLEGO Super Marioexpansionwill be unveiled during the upcoming LEGO Super Mario YouTube Premiere, but fans celebrating Mario Day might be in for a fun, brick-building surprise this Friday.
