Back in 2011, Traveller’s Tales set sail on the high seas withLEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game. It launched alongside the fourth entry in the franchise and brought Jack Sparrow’s story to the world of LEGO. LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Was A Good Time
LEGO Pirates of the CaribbeanLEGO-fied the first four movies in the franchise and let players take control of Jack Sparrow as he went on these high stakes adventures. The game was the typical LEGO style game with unlockable characters, many collectables, LEGO humor, and fun levels. The game let playersunlock manyPirates of the Caribbeancharacterslike Davy Jones and Will Turner, and it let them create their own pirates too. The hub world was called The Port and served as a spot to enter each movie, similar to the Mos Eisley Cantina fromLEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.
LEGO Pirates of the Caribbeanwas decent fun, but it was not a smash hit critically like previous LEGO games were. The title felt verysimilar to past LEGO games, except this time it had thePirates of the Caribbeanskin attached to it. It was perfect for fans of LEGO games orPirates, but outsiders had little reason to check the title out. It adapted the four movies well, but it did not do much to enhance the LEGO franchise and thus did not receive particularly strong reviews. However, it still sold decently well and has become more beloved by the community as time passes.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean 2 is a Must
Since the release ofLEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, the entire LEGO formula has changed.LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagareinvented what it means to be a LEGO game, and aPirates of the Caribbeansequel could take advantage of that. The Skywalker Sagacompletely redid how hub worlds work and replaced them with huge explorable planets that players can spend hours on. Gone are the days whenLEGO Pirates of the Caribbeanneeded to make a small hub world with The Port, as now it could give players the entire sea to explore. It could give gamers control of one of the various ships from the series and let them actually sail the high seas as they head off to their next mission or gather collectables.
Traveller’s Tales also added full voice acting to the LEGO games withLEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. No longer do the LEGO figures have to grunt or gasp, as now they can say the actual lines from the movies. There are so many iconic lines fromPirates of the Caribbeanthat would feel right at home in a LEGO game, and now that can actually happen. While some many miss the classic grunts, having voice acting in the games make them better adaptations of the source material, and they allow the games to better tell the stories.
On top of all the LEGO innovations,Pirates of the Caribbeanalso released a fifth movie that has yet to get the LEGO treatment. Along with that, there are a couple of otherPirates of the Caribbeanprojects that are currently in development. If these films ever see the light of day, then thePirates of the Caribbeanseries will grow drastically, and there will be even more adventures just waiting for the LEGO treatment. Letting fans experiencethe entirePiratesfranchisein LEGO form may result in an instant classic.
It has been 11 years since LEGO took a trip tothe world ofPirates of the Caribbean, and a lot has changed since then. Not only has the franchise gotten even more Jack Sparrow adventures, but the entire LEGO formula has been revamped.
