The announcement of Riot Forge during theLeague of Legends' tenth anniversary was a point of excitement for many fans. Now, Riot Games andBit.Tripdeveloper Choice Provisions have teamed up for their own spin on one of the game’s most iconic characters.
Since the game’s tenth anniversary celebration in 2019,League of Legendshas seen the reveals of several new titles based within its universe, both developed by Riot and third parties. Alongside third-party games likeRuined King, Riot Games has released multiple new titles including the card gameLegends of Runeterra, tactical shooterValorant, and even the long-awaited mobile version ofLeague of Legends,Wild Rift. Now, the newest title from Riot Forge takesLeague’s popular Ziggs and throws him into a rhythmic rampage on the Switch.

Riot Forge announced through its official YouTube channel thatHextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Storywould be coming to the Switch later this month. The game developed by Choice Provisions will starLeague of Legends' Ziggs in a rhythm-based runner similar to the developer’sBit.Tripseries as he wreaks havoc on the city of Piltover. The game is set to release early next week on November 16 for Switch, PC, and theNetflix Games mobile app. Players who pre-order will also receive an in-game Ruined Ziggs skin, based on the Ruination storyline fromLeague.
The announcement ofHextech Mayhemis notably the first news fans have heard from Riot Forge in several months. Riot Forge’s official Twitter account had not posted since December of 2020 and the division’s YouTube channel had been equally dormant with the most recent video on the channel being theRuined Kingtrailer released the same month.Convergence: A League of Legends Story, the other premiere Riot Forge title announced alongsideRuined King, has been absent from the developer’s announcements.
Hextech Mayhem’s focus on Piltover as the game’s setting is just the newest in a recent string of Riot’s promotion surrounding the world of Runeterra’s “City of Progress.” Piltover is the main setting of the recently premieredArcane,Riot’s first animated series following the story of Caitlyn, Vi, and Jinx alongside several other popular characters fromLeague of Legends. Riot has been heavily promotingArcane’s debut, even collaborating with other games likePUBGandFortnitefor the first time inLeague’s twelve-year history.Hextech Mayhemlooks like it will add another wild and explosive ride to the world ofLeague of Legends.
